Okay, so here’s the scoop: I’ve never tried karaoke. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m great at singing in the shower or blasting out tunes in front of the mirror when nobody’s watching. But the idea of standing in front of a bunch of people at a bar and singing? Nope, not my thing. Even if I recognize a few faces in the crowd (probably friends who dragged me there), my shyness takes over big time.
And let me tell you, my shyness is exactly why I couldn’t do what the woman in the video below did! She just walked up to a karaoke machine in a local store and started singing her heart out! And let me tell you, she’s amazing!
One day, shoppers at a Sam’s Club in New York got a surprise when Christina Kokonis-Viggers grabbed the mic and sang ‘Maybe This Time’ from the musical “Cabaret.” Turns out, Christina is a singer from Staten Island, used to performing on stage. But this spontaneous performance was totally out of the blue for her. Still, she’s happy she did it.
Christina’s friend Amanda recorded the whole thing and put it online. Christina didn’t think much of it, but guess what? The video blew up! By the end of the night, 2,000 people had already watched it!
What’s even more surprising is that Christina isn’t formally trained in singing. It’s all about practice and hard work for her. But she dreams of singing alongside big stars like Adele someday! Her voice has that soulful passion, and she clearly loves what she’s doing. I mean, who wouldn’t have a blast starting a mini concert in the middle of a store? Christina’s got guts!
