SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Christian Oliver, a U.S. actor, and his two daughters lost their lives in a plane crash near a small private island in the eastern Caribbean, as confirmed by the police in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The tragic incident took place on Thursday, just west of Petit Nevis island near Bequia, while the plane was en route to nearby St. Lucia, as stated by the police in an official statement.

The daughters were identified as Madita Klepser, 10, and Annik Klepser, 12. The pilot, Robert Sachs, also succumbed to the crash.

The cause of the crash remains unclear at this time, according to the authorities.

Fishermen and divers in the vicinity rushed to the crash site to offer assistance, while the St. Vincent and Grenadines Coast Guard was dispatched to the area.

“The selfless and brave acts of the fishermen and divers are very much appreciated,” acknowledged the police.

The 51-year-old actor, born in Germany, boasted numerous credited film and television roles, including appearances in the 2008 film “Speed Racer” and “The Good German,” a 2006 World War II film directed by Steven Soderbergh, starring George Clooney and Cate Blanchett.

Christian Oliver also played the role of Brian Keller, a Swiss transfer student, throughout season two of the 1990s series “Saved by the Bell: The New Class.”
